September is finally here, and unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that means it’s Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and the launch of Kilted to Kick Cancer. - Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in America, affecting 1 in 6 men.
- The older you are, the more likely you are to be diagnosed with prostate cancer.
- A man with a father or brother who developed prostate cancer is twice as likely to develop the disease.
- For men in the U.S., the risk of developing prostate cancer is 17%.
- Other risk factors for aggressive prostate cancer include: Tall height; lack of exercise and a sedentary lifestyle; high calcium intake; African-American race; and/or family history.
