Field & Stream Magazine, the world’s leading outdoor publication and website, recently named Magnum USA’s Sidewinder HPi boots in MultiCam® as the “Best of the Best” in the Hunting Category of its 14th annual awards.
“I wore a pair of Sidewinders during the spring gobbler season in Montana, where you roast a tom in a misting twilight rain, set up for him in two inches of overnight snow, and hike out of ridges at noon under a merciless sun,” said Field & Stream’s Outdoor Skills Field Editor Keith McCafferty, who tested the hunting boots submitted for this award. “These proved to be the toughest, lightest and once broken in, most comfortable three-season hunting boots I’ve worn.”
The Field & Stream “Best of the Best” awards program is designed to find and honor the absolute best new and innovative products in hunting and fishing each year. The judging criteria for this esteemed award includes the significance of innovation, the quality of the design and the value it brings to hunters.
Originally designed for Special Forces serving overseas in Afghanistan, these combat boots easily cross over into the hunting and outdoors market. Every aspect of both boots are full Crye Precision MultiCam®, including the outsoles, midsoles and lace eyelets. The Sidewinder HPi offers an athletic fit and design that provides all-day, off-trail comfort and cushioning to maximize time out in the field.
As with many of Magnum’s boots, the Sidewinder also features ion-mask™ technology. Applied inside a plasma chamber, the ion-mask™ treatment binds invisibly to our product material’s surface and fibers, resulting in extraordinary benefits to the end user, without affecting the look, feel or breathability of the boot. The technology gives our footwear excellent liquid repellency, which stops external water, blood pathogens and chemicals from getting in – while allowing perspiration to escape. Unlike membrane technologies, ion-mask™ is not a physical barrier, so it delivers the full natural airflow as well as reducing unnecessary weight.
“It’s an incredible honor to receive this prestigious award from Field & Stream in the Hunting Boot Category,” said Bob Kaiser, Magnum USA CEO. “We’ll continue to strive for excellence in creating footwear that meets the demands of our consumers, whether you’re a hunter, a soldier, a police officer, an EMT or a construction worker.”
The Sidewinder HPi in MultiCam will be available in early 2012, but you can pre-order your pair online through Quartermaster.
