You may have heard the recent buzz surrounding Motorcop and The Happy Medic on their upcoming campaign, Kilted to Kick Cancer. We’re proud to announce our partnership with these guys for this important cause.
Did you know that September is Prostate Cancer Awareness month? Neither did we, until Motorcop and The Happy Medic reached out to us with an idea that we simply couldn’t turn down. The guys recently came out to HQ for a visit to give us the details on their upcoming campaign, which we consider to be brilliant. For the entire month of September, MC and HM are rockin’ kilts. Unless they’re on duty, it’s all kilts, all the time during Prostate Cancer Awareness month.
(How did prostate cancer awareness and kilts come into play? We’ll leave the explaining to Motorcop – he broke it down best in his recent blog post.)
We want to help Motorcop and the Happy Medic bring as much awareness to male risk factors for prostate and testicular cancer as we possibly can. Many people aren’t aware that prostate and testicular cancers kill just as many men as breast cancer kills women. One in 6 men will be diagnosed with cancer of the prostate during their lifetime. As uncomfortable as it may be to talk about this sort of thing – let alone think about the screening process – it’s a cause worth getting behind (pun intended).
Over the next couple of months, we’ll be posting some resources on prostate cancer, as well as featuring guest posts from both Motorcop and The Happy Medic regarding the campaign and how you can help.
For now, we leave you with one last note. If you’re 40 years or older, don’t wait until September to get screened for PC. Strap on your kilt and schedule an appointment with your doc today – it could just save your life!
